Blokart North-West and The BLSA provided an excellent weekend of blokart racing and all participants
were left eager for the second event in Cornwall in October.
12-20knts blew both days at 20 degrees off the line of a 750 m long course set with a short 'wing'
mark set downwind of the windward mark. A good spread of experienced sailors, first-time racers and juniors found all
12 races interesting, fun and educational.
Justin Heap ( lightweight performance) was dominant with as was Kiwi Steve Harvey ( heavy performance ).David
Hare (Scotland) demonstrated a big jump in his abilities as did so many who have joined the sport in the last few years.
Saturday saw some good racing from Santi Oliver (Spain) but he found things harder on the Sunday when the
heavyweights chasing Harvey were Kevin Meyers and Nick Dodge who enjoyed several close battles together.
New to blokart (his 3rd time in a kart) Jonathan Sharp - like Justin, a very experienced boat
racer, was always at the higher end of the field as was Junior James Brown (Hey Mr Moody-'The Blowtorch' is in good hands!
)
Everyone got stuck into their own personal battles within the races and this is one thing that makes these
occasions a joy for all to be part of.
