Nicolas Boel  knows about blokart sailing and so we take heed : his downhaul is simplicity itself.

I use a standard ronstan block with camcleat which is attached to the blokart with a shackle (no extra holes in the blokart!) on the mast support. Then use another ronstan block on top wich gives you a 6:1 pull. Attach on the top block a piece of rope, lead it thru the ring to a hook. I use 4mm prestreched dynema rope. You can use another brand of blocks, but make sure you buy them not to big... Small dinghy blocks are perfect. Any decent chandler should have them.  "

In case you're wondering...the extra stays at the front are to stiffen the keel which is vulnerable to the destructive effects of Ostend wavebreakers.
