The BLSA is the governing body in the UK for Speedsails and Blokarts.
We offer our members 3rd Party liability insurance for £5 million as part of our membership. Currently only
£40 (2008) per year. We also arrange Race Events and Fun Events, which are all open to any one to join in as long as
you have the right Insurance. Insurance is needed very much in this day and age!!! The main income created for the running
of the association is generated though the running of such events. Most councils where these sort of activities take place
on Land owned or Managed by them INC BEACHES
etc insist on you having £5 million 3rd party liability insurance
to use the land. Some only allowing BLSA members to use their land.
We also can help with site access issues, we have a very good general use Risk assessment, and code of conduct.
Membership and insurance runs from 1st January to 31st December but with us being able to offer Pro Rata
insurance from July and again in Oct. This year it now also covers our Blokart and Speedsailing members for any Land Based
Kite Activity as well. It must be pointed out that once you have joined on a pro rata basis, you must continue your cover
whilst still involved in the sports. The insurance, as most these days is on a claims made basis, so continuation is very
important.
As the Governing body in the UK
we also arrange the National Championships, [and in 2006 The European Championships] we also offer Teaching and Training
and have a well established teaching, training & instructor Courses, run by our National Trainer Graham Bobin.
The BLSA is not only about racing, but more importantly about having FUN and enjoying our sports. We are here to help
our members and to help make these sports grow.
